Documentos de la Escuela de Ingenieros Industriales de Barcelona
The Documentos de la Escuela de Ingenieros Industriales de Barcelona have been published since 1991 by the Research Center for the History of Technology, the UNESCO Chair of Technology and Culture, the School of Industrial Engineers of Barcelona and Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.
The Documentos are presented and distributed during the opening ceremony of the ETSEIB course. At the same time, they are sent to the libraries of the Schools of Industrial Engineering in Spain and others abroad. For some years now, they have also been sent to subscribers of Quaderns d'Història de l'Enginyeria.
The collection is dedicated to presenting and analyzing the most important documents in the 150-year history of the ETSEIB: the content of the teachings, the facilities and laboratory material, the expenses, budgets and economic problems of the School, the School's relations with the public authorities and the industrial environment and the minor incidents that make up its complex daily life.
The Documentos collection contains an introductory study that analyses and contextualizes the history of the ETSEIB during a certain period; then the originals of several significant documents are reproduced and finally a transcription of the original handwritten documents is included.
The Documentos are known and valued in the academic field of ETSEIB and in the professional field of industrial engineers. They are also known and used by the academic community of historians of science and technology.
The issues published so far encompass around two thousand pages of documents available to scholars and researchers.
The documents aim at becoming the starting point for new studies and new debates, necessary for a deep understanding of technical education in Spain from the perspective of industrial engineering.
The list of documents can be consulted in electronic format on the UPC Open Access Knowledge Portal (UPCommons), Or consult them in paper format at the UPC libraries.
